Event History

The Klondike Trail of ’98 International Road Relay was conceptualized in 1982 by the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon as a means of attracting visitors to the Territory in the fall. In 1983, the first race took place with approximately 25 teams.

1097667_557932267578057_718105718_oToday, over 1700 participants from across Alaska, The Lower 48, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, and the Yukon take part in what has become Sport Yukon’s annual fundraiser. The 175km race, spanning from Skagway to Whitehorse, commemorates the Gold Rush Stampeders who climbed the famous White Pass to the Yukon over 100 years ago.
